There's a guy on my road who restores them and has 4 or 5 outside his house at any one time and they're bloody hideous.

    Yes indeed.

Shortcuts through wasteland to where I walk the dog contain zero bush-filth at all.

It was the only way a young lad could lay his hands on jazz when I was 14 or so...

No - I still see old Tory duffers in chislehurst and Bromley out and about in their decade old Rover - wondering what the hell to buy next time.

    Friction shifters.

Feel free to add your own...

Friction shifters on the bike I use for local riding so I see them often.

... and yes, the old TV line standard was 405 lines (a line frequency of 10.125khz - geez the cr@p stored in my brain)

What don't you see? Real shops that are unique to their locality rather than just another high street identical the ones everywhere else. Cheque books. Rubber pedals. Broken down cars littering the hard shoulder of the motorway. Kids going out in the morning, not returning until dark and their parents not worrying. Tweed plusses for cycling.

The girlfriend is always (ok, maybe twice) talking about white dog poo but I've never seen it. What's the deal with that?

I think dog food used to contain more bone meal ( and calcium?)

Can't remember exactly. I think it has to be left out a long time though, and hopefully people actually clean it up nowadays!

Yeah, it's all due to the fact the ingredients of modern dog food is different, so that's why you don't see white doo doo anymore. As far as I know it's not been around for years..

I always thought it was from poodles. I haven't seen it since 1988 or thereabouts. If the internet was around then and I had a straight to twitter camera phone i'd certainly have a home page documenting my sightings so therefore could be a lot more specific on the exact sighting date.

  • Vision On...what were those guys smoking? As a young kid in the 70s I didn't grasp the phsycadelic culture on at the time.

Benotto tape, esp hot pink. And people complain about Fizik tape providing no cushioning! Stiched leather handlebar covering.

In my day narrow tires were 27x1 or 27x1 1/8. It's as if 700c tires were not invented (or sold anyway) until about 1983.

Tommassini frames. Ciocc frames. CBT frames. Tommaso frames. San Rensho frames. Zunow frames. Battaglin frames. Land Shark frames. Frames with no seat bottle bosses. That was stricty 90s+ in my memory.

A beautiful celeste Bianchi with a painted-to-match Silca frame pump.

The Mountain Goat Whiskeytown Racer. The orginal Bontrager frame with the sleeved seatsatys. IRD rear suspension frame using a cable wrapped around the BB connected to a stack of bumpers. Crazy smart idea. Google it.

Detto Pietro holey leather shoes (have a pair in my Mom's basemet still).

    Too many more to mention.

The bit with the bloke catching it and the end sticks in my memory for some reason.

For the list of things you never see anymore: kids walking to school.
