winlatter

i`m fairly new to m/biking,done gisburn forest plentey of times so got some resonable riding time,me and a few of my pals were thinking of goin up winlatter this weekend.is this a daft idea what with all the bad weather recently?

    its fine in poor weather a bit more slippery but all the more fun, you should be fine, id do the blue first see how you go.

    Has anybody been to whinlatter when its a little frosty?
    I might bob up in the next few weeks,but I would of thought whinlatter+ ice= certain death! :lol:

    was up on the weekend, loads of ice - no problem, just pay attention

    Whinlatter rocks, i think it is one of the more underated trail centres.

    Love it.

    Forget the blue, get out on the north loop red, and then the south

    Which makes it great fun! I suggest you try different tyres.... it was great last weekend, very wet but plenty of grip!

    I did Whinlatter straight after some very heavy rain. Although I rode Moo cross in my youth, I'm now a timid old guy and mainly a roadie to boot. And it was fine for me.

    I rate Whinlatter very highly. However, be awre that Dumfries is only another half hour driving and from there you have Ae, Mabie and Dalbeattie all within 10 miles, make for a great weekend. Dalbeatties is especially well drained when wet .(but I imagine lethanl if icy )
