The gloves are made from 'water resistant material' but that doesn't make them waterproof - expect they'll leak like a sieve as the seams won't be taped. Unless you're going into the high Arctic, I've found that a decent pair of GoreTex ski gloves are more than adequate - without the need for wires and batteries.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Hi, mitts are a great buy as all your fingers are together and so create body heat, some of the waterproof cycling makes are very expensive though. I have been using a pair of ping golfing mitts all last winter up to the present, and have no complaints about cold or wet hands, these retail at 20 quid, great value. (no price to much to keep your hands warm)
May take a couple of outings to get use to operating brakes and gears as your slightly restricted but well worth it.
  • Ok, cheers chaps, seemed a good idea but looks like i'll have to spend another winter trying gloves. Or maybe stop being such a wuss

My fingers seem to get worse every winter (unless every winter gets colder than the last). Even just on the 20 min ride to work, last winter I had a few mornings where my fingers were completely numb, not to mention the hot aches once I got to work  This morning wasn't even THAT cold but I started getting the first tingles of numb fingers.

I use Specialized Radiant gloves, they were good when I first got them but it seems like I need something even better now
  • If you suffer with cold hands or feet, you you try completing an online questionnaire, which might help to solve your problem! See the post 'Cold hands or cold feet'.

My gloves (Endura Strike) live on the radiator at this time of year so they are kind of heated....

Although it doesn't help too much. I still get dry/broken skin in the winter (might not be from riding) so just moisturise as necessary.

Nivea do some manly hand cream which is quite good.
  • Heated gloves? You're 'avin a larf.

    TTFU would be my advice.

I spent one winter not wearing gloves cos one of the top 'cross riders reckoned that was the best thing to do. After about 20 painful minutes - your hands are warm and stay like that for the rest of the ride, its just the first 20 mins that you need to deal with.

Failing that - Get some Lobster Mitts ?

I got those endura lobster mitts for the sub zero rides last year. Even with an extra inner glove my hands got cold at the start but when they warmed up they turned into a furnace. Unless it was raining then they were just cold all the time. Also if I'm climbing they get hot, and then descending they freeze. Can't win really.

If it's easy to turn the heating on and off then they could be quite good for me.
