Go to a local patisserie and get some individual tart au fruits or similar...

Tell them you are on a health kick and give them all a banana.

For the unhealthy, you could supply thick cream and maple syrup as dips.

As it is a dinner party you are permitted to put the banana on a plate.

    :D

  • Baked apples, healthy and easy!

Alls you need is some cooking apple, which you chop the top off and hollow out. FIll them with raisins, currants and some sugar, cinnamon and some bits of candied fruit too if you're feeling adventorous.

bake at about 150c for 30-45 minutes, until they're as soft as you might lie, then in a bowl with cream/ice cream.

    Summer pudding!
Fruit, sugar, bread is all that's needed. Mix a vanilla pod with some marscapone to go on the side, lovely.

Sweaty - Easy, quick and no cooking.

    Chocolate Mousse

320g (12oz) strong dark eating chocolate (use a good one)
    30g (1oz) unsalted butter
    6 eggs
    pinch of salt
    Method:
Separate the eggs, placing the whites into a large bowl.
Break the choccie into small pieces and put them in another large bowl set over a pan with a centimetre of barely simmering water. Add the butter and allow both to gently melt. Stir occasionally.
In the meantime, add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and whisk to the soft peak (floppy) stage. In a separate bowl, break up the yolks.
When the choccie and butter have melted and have been allowed to cool for a couple of minutes stir in the yolks.
Cut and fold in the whites (use a sharp sided spatula etc) in three batches until mixed. Pour into ramekins/espresso cups etc and refrigerate for a couple of hours to set.

    My tips-
If travelling to your party you could take them in a cool bag etc.
Take out of fridge about 1/2 hour before eating
    DO NOT overheat the choc!!!
You could add some Amaretto or equivalent (a couple of teaspoons and/or add crumbles Amaretto biscs on top.

If you don't like this then why not fry a few Mars bars!!!!

I used to know a really good recipe for orange pudding, but I've lost it.

    Eaton mess:

Whip double cream until it's stiff. Break a load of meringues into uneven-sized bits. Mix together with soft fruit (traditionally strawberries, but you could experiment - just not pineapple, as that goes bitter when left to stand with cream). Pile into nice glasses!

I would, but I got relegated to pudding after my suggestion of fish finger sandwiches for a main course. Don't think they would be very impressed!

  • Thanks for all the suggestions, I think I could pick something out from there, but I've now found out pudding has been covered by someone else! Now looking for a starter. Got to be a prawn cocktail, hasn't it? (Think I'm showing my age there...)

Tell them you're on a health kick and give them a banana. Avoid the cream and maple syrup for the starter.
