Did I say something offensive ;-)

Across fours forums I've posted a question about Rolf Prima Echelon SL wheels and despite over 200 reads not a single comment. Are the wheels that bad or just so rare nobody's uses them?

  • they are us//canadian with a HK/china/taiwan dealer as well, probably why you've not heard on anyone using them, try a US based forum?

Rolf wheels were popular about 10 years ago when they were manufactured and sold under license by Trek, but since then they've gone their own way with far more limited availability. From my experiences back then, some hub designs were weak and poorly sealed and the rims were pretty heavy to compensate for the paired spoke design - we were forever doing rebuilds on warranty.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Well Monty Dog, that certainly got my attention.

My current 2001 Klein Quantum is running Rolf Vector and despite about 5,000 miles I've never had an issue not even a puncture and they still run true, hence my enquiry.

Just ordered an Cervelo Soloist (yep not an S1) and was looking to stick with what I know but looks like I can't get them over here. And yours are the first bad words I've heard.

So while my tyres have been puncture free looks like my idea now isn't :-((

    Cheers anyway :-)

Never heard of the prima but if a spoke snapped on the vector - the wheel was unrideable - which was a pain in the arse for my mate who had it happen on alpe d'huez. No spares around - he had to buy a new set of wheels for the weekend.

Hi cougie, Thx for your comment.

No positive comments yet for the Rolf (other than from me and a mate who has Rolf Vector Pro) so I reckon I might be looking elsewhere.

Shame as it's a great looking wheel http://www.rolfwheels.com/products-Echelon-SL.php
