AHHHHHHHHHHH  .........

okay heres the problem,
we have 4 users on our home computer. we all have internet accsess on all four of these accounts. the internet works perfectly on 3 of these accounts. however on the administrators account (my dads) our aol 9vr dial up internet will not dial up. it comes up with the blue message. which says lots of stuff. but the main part states that there is "Bad_pool_Header". this is often known to the computer geek types as the blue message of death. i have spent hours tinkering and tryin to sort this out. in the message it says to uninstall any new hardware. i have done everything i can think of-

>uninstalled any new software
>deleted cookies
>cleared up the disk drive
>checked for clashing software
>checked the internet connection
cheked to see if there was any spyware (which there was one it was monitoring and the threat was minor and had been sorted out

and still i can only get the 3 accounts working not the 4th. however i did manage to get the internet to work on the 4th twice. this means the internet is very temperamental.

sooo...... now i have no idea on what to do next. if anyone has any ideas i would be much appreaciated. :(

thanks.

    too much porn :roll: :lol::lol::lol::lol:

sorry for my immaturity, tbh if ur still on dial up id get it swapped to broadband asap.

what you could do is save all the data on the 3 users to a memory stick, delete the current accounts and create new ones. usually does the job.

Hello, The next time you get the blue screen of death write down what it say and post it. This should hopefully help to point you in the right direction.

I am not even going to begin to explain how inaccurate that statement is...

The Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) is generally only caused by hardware or their drivers in windows XP and later. but without having my home internet (I am at work) is hard to research yours.

And without the exact error message you're not off to a good start but in very general terms Windows stop BAD_POOL_HEADER errors are covered in: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001142.htm

And you're using AOL software which is a law and a world unto itself.

The AOL service is a half decent service for the home user it's actually more consistent and stable than a lot of the smaller providers can offer. The problem arises with the proprietary software, it's too big, leaves a massive footprint and is a nightmare to work on because it is proprietary.

Thing you need to watch for is changing BSOD error message. If you get the same BSOD each time then it rules at least one thing out from that computerhope link. Just write the error message down verbatim, it may or may not shed some light. Usually you'll have to debug a BSOD to get something meaningful but you won't know how.

Well look. I know what I'd do without AOL handling of network adaptors. You'd first try and get the device driver to load by uninstalling Microsoft ISATAP in Device Manager >> Network Adaptors (right click select uninstall). Then force them to reinstall through the actions wizard. But you're dealing with AOL dial up networking here and I just don't have a clue what that action will do in that context. Sorry I couldn't be a bit more helpful.
