In a previous life in the late 1980's I was in charge of both finance and sales of a small office equipment business and we sold 200 memory cartridges to Lloyds Bank for £7500.
They usually dealt with the manufacturer direct but it was an end of line situation and we had managed to get hold of some cartridges elsewhere. It was a one off deal with no hope of further business for us.
It was coming up to financial year end for them and for some reason they had to have delivery and pay by March 31st. We could only deliver 100 with 100 to follow but were asked to invoice for the whole lot and deliver when we could get the final 100 from the manufacturer.
They paid for all of them and the manufacturer could not supply us the final 100. After about 3 months we had a directors meeting to decide whether we should either:
A) Keep the dosh as they weren't chasing us for the outstanding 100 cartridges.
Offer to supply other consumables to make up the balance we had already received.
C) Write them a cheque for £3750.
We tried for B and settled for C. I'm still proud of our honesty in a "feeling gullible and stupid" way.__________________

I deal with Tesco on a daily basis - organisation isn't a strong point strangely for such a profitable business.0

If Tescos lost the best part of a million and got...dare I say it?...saddled with the debt, how do you think they'd get their money back? Same way as most retail companies make their money, I'd guess.0

as long as we aren't using the money to pay Harewood's wages0

You learn something new every day:
The Muddy Fox brand is now made by Universal.
Universal is now owned by Sports Direct.
Anyone know how much the bikes retail for? £984 / 6 = £164 cost to Tesco.0 -
Mike Ashley has at least some reason to cheer then, apart from being fat, ugly and a laughing stock in football world0

Doesn't strike me as the sort of bloke to make the mistake of shaving his balls though."There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world, t'would be a pity to damage yours."0 -
according to him he has balls of steel, maybe a bit rusty, but not much hair0

What..? And eat into their profits..? Never, they'd sack a load of staff instead or make cuts as thats how they work.0 -
Couldn't they just add 1p to the price of tinned tomatoes for a day or two?0
