Looking to try and find the quarry on Cannock Chase, does is still exist and is it easy to find. I say this as it is more than 10 years since i last went and although i ride the chase often im allways tempted to try and find it again. The quarry as i remember it was a very steep drop and if you went flat out you could make it to the other side if you managed to avoid the car tyres in the pool. Any help would be appreciated, more for nostalgic reasons to be honest. cheers.

I think it was trashed to the point of being unrideable a couple of years back. If i am thinking of the right one, i went over there last summer and it was nowt to shout about. The one i'm thinking of could be found by following the nice open gradual downhill singletrack that starts across the road from the entrance to Tackeroo. Just keep going and you'll get to it eventually. Lots of quick-sand apparently though, so be careful  .
Forget your heart, it's your bank i wanna break, it's just yer money i'm after baby...

  • Look youtube for team boon footage and see if you can recognise the quarry in any of their videos?

The old quarry is no longer rideable due to the forestry creating banks at the bottom of the drops, to prevent you riding it. This has been the case for about 5 years. It's a shame, as it always used to feature on my rides back in the day.

The quarry is about 3 miles away as the crow flies from the DH courses.

The quarry that appears in Team Boon's videos is a different one, of which I have not visited and am not 100% sure of the location of.
