Hello all. Just ordered a new 2010 Trek 6300 as a first MTB. I haven't ridden since I passed my driving test nearly 20 years ago and would like to bash local routes in the Aberdeenshire countryside. I'm about 30 minutes West of Aberdeen and there are many hills crying out to be ridden. Any local recommendations from anyone? Many thanks in advance!

There is a few local propose built trails in Aberdeenshire. Do some Google searches and your will find a host of info for each..

    The Moray Monster Trails

    Pitfichie

    Kirk Hill

    The Lecht
  • Pitfichie is the dogs bits but closed right now (Red Route - Cairn William), well says it's closed but I rode it last Friday and although prety rutted in places it's fine if you pay extra attention.
Also try Scolty Hill/Shooting Greens at Banchory.

No doubt see you up there once the bike arrives in the New Year. I'll be the one with new gear, scrapes and grazes and totally out of breath!
