thought i'd ask the educated masses... what's a reasonable re-sale value of the islabike beinn 20, large?

i appreciate its down to the condition of the bike but for the sake of argument lets say.....

the bikes about 18/24 months old and in good condition...

  • Cant comment specifically for thge Beinn but I looked at second hand cnocs for my son last year and now Rothans for my daughter and they tend to go for at least 50% of their full price but usually a little more (and, if on ebay a lot more).

I'm sure you've checked but there are a couple of Beinns on ebay now that have 4 or 5 days to run and are already around the 100 quid mark. Oh and another ending today which has hit £132. I'd be happy getting that sort of money back on a bike that costs £225 new (including delivery).

Its ebay i'm looking at and the one that finishes today in particular... but say ~£155(including cost of pick up etc) for a £225 bike seems a bit much for me.

I'm amazed at the resell value and just wanted to check if this was normal, i guess for me based on these prices its a new one and cash in when finished with.

You don't know of any other outlets for these particular bikes by any chance, other than Islabikes themselves that is?
  • Dont think they sell through any other outlets.

Ebay has a lot to answer for in inflating secondhand values. Shocked at how much people will pay on there, just hopes it works to my benefit for the bike I'm selling! Been looking at second hand balance bikes at it seems that the standard sale price on the ones I'd consider (Rothan, Puky LR1 BR, Ridgeback Scoot, etc) is between 50 and 65 quid. You can get the Scoot for 79 quid new so people are close to paying full price if they pay delivery too.

I think you are right with the plan on buying new and selling on, I'll be doing that again with the Rothan I think, people dont seem to care about condition - some of the second hand rothans that have sold were really bashed about.

    thanks for the response.

Its like the worlds gone mad! The bike i was looking at on Tuesday finally went for £156 and if you include say £15 picking it up, this is utter madness, obviously IMO.

    cheers
