Hi All,

I have just bought a Satmap Active 10. Is there anywhere I can get MTB routes to download straight to the device? I am a GPS novice any tips would be great.

Cheers,

Manny :?:

  • There is loads of websites out there.

Try searching google for GPX (this is the file extension for stadard GPS routes) and the area you want to ride. ie helvellyn gpx with a bit of searching I always find what I need.

MBR website as lots of routes but I can't mention that on this forum.

Have you checked out Bike Radars routes?

I often create my own it's more fun just do some research to make sure the bridleways are rideable.

If you give me an idea of where you want to ride I can email you some routes as i have hundreds.

This is number one search in google.

  • Dear actsolutions,

Thanks for the info, I will have a play with the software and gpx tonight. I live in Hull and ride around the wolds in the week. Weekends I have a caravan at Pickering so any N.Yorks routes would be great. Am I correct in the understanding that I will have to buy the satmap map for the area to be able to use the gpx? it doesnt come overlaid on a OS?

    Cheers'

  • Hey Manny.
You don’t necessarily need the OS map to make the GPX work on the Satmap it will overlay happily on the basemap (road map) but you won’t get the detail of the OS map which is always nice to have especially if you get lost like me.
You live in a great part of the world for MTBing I like to ride in Dalby there is also some lovely routes out the back of the forest over fylingdales moor and down into robins hoods bay it’s an epic day out I did it years back on a long summers day. I’m hoping to come up on Easter to check out the XC world cup round let’s hope for good weather.

    Cheers

MBR put their routes on there in gpx format.

Any gpx file that has been done on digital software ie MemoryMap/Tracklogs etc will upload to your unit and overlay on the Satmaps OS maps assuming you have the route card.
I regularly use MemoryMap,then convert it to a gpx and upload it to my Active10.I have the National Parks route card which pretty much covers my riding 8)
