i've just purchsed two so called " specialized carbon bottle cages " in blue from a guy on ebay.
after 2 weeks they arrived but to me they look like cheap plastic cages with a the specialized logo on and they dont feel like carbon.
because they have this blue glazed paint on them its hard to make out their carbon so is there a way i can check to see if they are ?.
i paid extra for carbon so if there not there going back asap.

Why pay extra for carbon if you can't even see that its carbon? I mean for bottle cages, the weight saving is nominal and they are a lot more fragile so the only real reason for carbon cages is posing factor... (I have two by the way! )0

don't confuse carbon with carbon fibre...
I had a pair of Zefal 'carbon' cages on a bike years ago - they were effectively just plastic.....0 -
Better off with the Tacx Tao (?) cages ? Cheap and good enough for McEwen and co....0

Bottle cages are almost as personal as saddles and pedals...
If you're selling the bike, then best leave them off.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Weigh 'em. Specialized list the weight of their carbon and normal cages on their website. I think there's a mighty 5g difference or so!0
