Thought i'd throw this out for a bit of feedback.. my daughter is in need of an upgrade to the lump of steel that, bless, she has mastered and outgrown.

So this said with her birthday up-coming i'm after the next step.. currently looking at the dawes redtail (20" wheel by the way) or the islabike beinn.

Have i omitted any alternative's that's easier on the pocket and is as reasonably spec'ed?

Depends on budget, Emma Pooley rides a very nice Cervelo S2 with 650 wheels in a size 48!!! :D:wink:

sorry should have said, she's only six, hence the 20" wheel size.

Next step up from this would be the cervelo though....

price range between £130 and £200 should be more than adequate i would have thought, IMO that is....

Problem is that at that age decent quality bikes are as much as adults and even secondhand they hold their value. Might work out just as cheap to buy an Islabike and then sell it when she has outgrown it for very little depreciation.

    Hi Stubbo
Have a look for threads in the 'Family' section of the forum as this very topic has been discussed recently.

My 5-year old has had two Specialized Hotrocks but we are thinking of the 20" Islabike for the next size up instead of another Hotrock (due to weight). Lots of people seem to rave about the Islabikes on here. I think they might be >£200 tho.

Does it have to be new? Appreciate it may not be your ideal colour, but I've got this going:

Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

kind of conclusion i've drawn from trawling the usual channels. The islabikes looks like the the one everyone raves about and seems to attract a decent price on the ebay's of the world, just thought i'd get another opinion.

    thanks

Second, good condition, great but ohhh how does the colour matter, its taken me months of manipulation (i'm a good father, honest) to make her realise there is life after pink!

    thanks though.

Looked at Isla Bikes before I'm sure they used to do a part ex buy back of their bikes once they've out grown it. Worth checking out if they still do that.
