Been looking at an Orbea for a winter/2nd bike, just wondered what others experiences have been with them. Have to say they appear well made and handle nicely, just long term I wouldn’t know.
I’m use to riding Spesh if that helps.
Cheers

    Lovely bikes.
Not sure I've noticed any in their range with mudguard clearance...

I've got a nice shiny red Obrea Onix still in the box in my hall way
since I got it delivered not had a chance to try it out due to family commitments
and if I'm honest I have this niggling feeling about not wanting to take it out in cr@p conditions and am tempted to keep it till locked away and still use the old langster over the winter

I have an Orbea Onix and I am very happy with it. I dont think you can get a drop bar model that can fit guards( maybe the Diem Drop has clearance) but I was looking at one of these recently:

It looks great in the flesh and it looks like it will take guards ok. I would have gone for it but I just don't get on with straight bars.

If it's an '09 Onix you'll be lucky to fit 25mm tyres never mind mud guards!!

I fitted mine with some TRP carbon brake callipers and there was no way the wheels would even turn with 25mm tyres on. Took the callipers off and realised there was only just enough room between the frame and tyres - never mind the callipers.

Lovely bike though - the only reason I'd swap mine now would be for an Orca

I have an Orca, and it is absolutely beautiful to ride.

I wouldn't use it in Winter though!
  • I have an '09 Onix too great bike. Used it to train, race, time trial, hill climb and sportif on this year and it's not let me down for anything. I'm pushing it through the winter with some crummy wheels on and a bit of TLC.

I asked for 25mm on mine no problems

The Conti GP4000s seem pretty big - even for 25mms!

I've got the '08 Onix (or '09 Onix Vuelta - same thing but renamed) and I think I'd have trouble getting 25mm tyres on there - I had to trim the rear guard of a Crud Road Racer just to get it to fit (I'm using 23mm gatorskins)!

I got it about 2 months ago and although I said I'd take it out in the crap weather it's been firmly attached to the turbo for the last 3 weeks :(

It is a lovely bike though...
