I can only answer this part of your question -

100kg is heavier than I guess about 99.9% of racers, but it won't preclude you from being a road rider. The only thing to watch out for is whether the wheels on the bike you buy are suitable for a rider of your weight. Most will be, but it pays to check as some are only guaranteed for riders up to certain weights.

Can you get a credit card with a 0% on new deals or balance transfers and get it that way?
  • I am 6ft 2" and go to the gym, so I guess I don't have the standard rider frame. Yeah just sat with the mrs now discussing options, but she says I can have one for £500 cash (xmas present) or NOTHING! as Iam not allowed anything else on finance : (

You will become a secret-spending cyclist like many on here. Luckily, most women have no idea how much bike stuff costs. Otherwise I'd be in a world of trouble. :D
  • Wiggle and Tredz do finance packages using a company called V12 finance :D

Between the two companies you could look at either Specialized, Felt or Focus, all nice brands....hope this helps :D

Specialized Concept Store do 0% finance. (Alternatively a decent chunk off if you don't take the finance.) :)

Many shops offering 0% won't do it on an already reduced bike.
Wiggle do ( I went buy now and pay next year with 25% off the list price)
I think CRC will on discouted bikes too.
Both use V12 Finance which I found fine.

Have you considered funding it via bike to work scheme ?

Evans Cycles do 0% finance in their stores. Big company so they stock Specialized, Trek, Cannondale, Bianchi...etc etc.

  • Yep I got my first bike on interset free with evans.

look online at what they have they will source it for you if they don't have it in the shop.

Just don't expect the best bike buying/ testing experience.
Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!

Richard, it might be worth looking into the cyclescheme or ride to work scheme if your employers do it.

we do 0% finance too (and a good deal if you dont)
have to pop in the shop though

    http://www.cultracing.com/pages/0%25-Interest-Free.html

I've used V12 in the past, its deferred interest, so dont go over the 12 months all you'll get whacked for a years worth of interest on the balance

What don't you just get a 0% credit card ?- there loads about - and if you get the amazon or play ones you get cashback vouchers.

then just set up a direct debit to the card to clear the debt in 10 or 12 months
