i currently have a trek 1.2 compact with an fsa vero chainset. i'd like to know how easy it is to convert it to a triple chainset. and which chainset would be a good option.

Are you quite fit / been riding very long? If not it might be premature to change.

It's fairly straightforward as long as you have the right tools. But, IMHO it's a pointless exercise unless you're riding up mountains. If you want lower gears put a bigger cassette on it. If you've already got the biggest possible cassette then you need to ride more and increase your fitness
  • I swapped my Trek 1.5 comp to a tripple. I want to start doing some hill routes, but also get used to a full double.

TBH I find the 53/39 much better than the 50/34 I had before. Much, much nicer to ride with for some reason. I just didnt want to go to the higher gears without some form of backup at first "just incase"

I have ordered my Boardman carbon, and will be phoning then to ask if Ican have a Double put on instead of a comp.

I have a double, a triple and a compact, which I dislike the most. Triple (Trek 1.7) is much nicer, and an excellent all-rounder. But then so's the double, 53/39.
