A friend of mine has a 2009 defy advanced the ultegra one in grey.It looks brilliant the frame is very advanced looking compeared to my focus cayo.He thinks its the best bike he has had by a long way, although the first thing he did was change the tyres.I have not ridden one,but for me it seems a absolutely brilliant bike. Its a giant as well for me the best bike manufacture there is.Hope this helps see if you can get a 2009 model as the 2210 models are much more expensive.0

I've tried the defy and tcr back to back with the same components. Both were just as stiff and you get great power transfer. The defy is more comfortable though and less twitchy. I went for the TCR for racing, but if I had both I'd probably choose to ride the defy most days.Racing for Fluid Fin Race Team in 2012 - www.fluidfin.co.uk0

i have a 2009 defy advanced3 and can't fault it! Only road bike i've ever ridden as from mtb background but i can say its very comfy over long rides and really stable. I'm going to change the tyres for 23's and probably upgrade wheels after winter and good frame enables me to keep upgrading if i feel i need to!Carbon is a mans best freind0

I have the 09 advanced 2 and it is a great bike. I tested it along side other 'sportive' bikes such as the Specialized Roubaix, Felt Z series, Trek Madone & Cannondale Synapse and while these were all great bikes the Giant seemed to get the balance of comfort vs speed just right. I think most of this is down to the frame, which does share a lot of features with the racier TCR, such as the oversized bottom bracket and internal press fit cups.
As mentioned, If you can, try to find an '09 model. I think JE James was selling some of the advanced 4 (same spec as this years 3) for just over a grand but they may only have small sizes in stock now.0 -
Had a look at a new one yesterday actually, nice bike but I prefer the Boardman.Cycling never gets any easier, you just go faster - Greg LeMond0
