We recently had the garage and downstairs loo done in the LuxTouch range from Pietra Firma. It's really nice. There is a nice tactile feel to it.

Yeah, diamonds underfoot create a certain feeling (pain mainly).

The only thing more expensive is reclaimed york stone flags. We're doing patio in them and they're certainly hardwearing - at 3 inches thick they weigh a literal tonne too! Buy from any one of a range of shady characters who'll steal to order. They'll withstand the worst you throw at them and can be steam cleaned. Last for 100's of years.

Of copurse if you're installing them upstairs they'll be downstairs before you.

    I think tri-sexual wasn't being 100% serious either, looking at his/her/its next paragraph. :D

    I know.

Maybe you could mix our ideas - put up a load of BMX stunt equipment but have a nice soft lawn to fall onto. Moss is always good to land on. The really soft, comfy stuff can be found in woodlands on embankments. Hmm, best put this one in mundane observation threads as well.

It's not too bad actually, approx $1,000,000 per square metre.

    Bargain!

    I've been a gullible tw@t haven't I?

Amtico, or slightly cheaper Karndean. (They're both like lino but thicker and better quality).

I can vouch for Karndean. My kitchen / diner has it and it looks great.
But it does show up the piss stains.

We have it in our kitchen too.

How about tarmac? Hard wearing and easy on the eye. You could add pot holes for authenticity too... ...along with broken glass, dog poo, chip wrappers and vomit stains. :D

Good idea, though I think it would probably cost too much having the walls removed so I could get the steamroller in and out... :D

I agree. Almost any spot can be improved with tarmac.

In fact, I have frequently found myself cycling through the Forest of Dean thinking, 'You know, this forest wouldn't be half as good if it didn't have this exquisite tarmacadam road going through it.'

I withdraw my earlier suggestion of a pebble beach. I think you should get some tarmac down.
