Prawny - part of me thinks, quite illogically, that it's the 25mms and not the 23mms which I have problems with. My last pair didn't last long either. The 23mms lasted a year, after a spate of deflations after six months.
I'm telling ya, 25mm gives the fairy a bigger target, I reckon 21mm would be even better 8)
Half seriously though, i suppose that if the contact patch is bigger you do have more chance to pick up detritus.
I don't think I'll change from 23mm any time soon.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

Not to worried about weight. The heavier the better from a training point of view.
In which case, you can just get the regular Rubinos with the wire bead, 100g heavier, but you can get them for under a tenner.0 -
What for??
Contis aren't great that's for sure
the vittoria rubino pros I picked up recently are greatPurveyor of sonic doom
Very Hairy Roadie - FCN 4
Fixed Pista- FCN 5
Beared Bromptonite - FCN 140 -
Recently put a set on Mrs Roastie's bike after her old rubber started getting quite puncture prone. Her feedback:
Speed: "They roll slowly. I am officially the slowest cyclist in London."
Puncture resistance: None to report. Good for a girl who can't be bothered to carry any deflation provisions.
Grip: Very bad out the box, but appear to have worn-in to the point where she reckons it feels more secure than her old rubber. But then again, the old rubber was kaput.
I'd say get the Durano Plus - I think Wiggle has stock.David

+1 for the Vittoria Rubino Pros folding tyres. Good ride and grip in dry and wet, even in a torrential down pour as happened this weekend. They have a high thread density and kevlar band. At 130psi (145 psi max) I would have thought they would not get many punctures, depending where you ride them of course. Wiggle were doing a good price on them a while back.
The other tyre which is pretty good but not mentioned is the Specialised Armadillo Pros or Armadillo All Condition tyres. Never had a puncture with these as they are bullet proof and they roll well. 28C and above are a bit heavy, 25C being the best for commuting.Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.
Think how stupid the average person is.......
half of them are even more stupid than you first thought.0 -

Ok, these Rubinos are worth a look. Cheers, chaps.
Dilemna - Good point. I've got the Armadillos on my mtb. The business deflation-protection wise, but I've found them, um, "interesting" in the wet, so I'm inclined to stay away from them for the road bike.FCN 2-4.

"It stays down, Daddy."

I have M+ 25c on my Giant. Agree with all the above, they are bulletproof but slow and a wooden feel. I don't think I would choose them again tbh, I would go for one of the conti / spech compromises. I would definitlely not have them on if I used the same bike for weekend riding.
PS I did find them fairly striaghtforward to fit - not easy but went on first time with a bit of muscle.road0 -
Try the 23C Dutch Perfect tyres from cyclelife.com with Raleigh puncture proof tubes What's wrong with Conti's Grand Prix Four Seasons???0
