HI all...

I'm looking to put some frame protection on the chainstay of my new bike.

Has anyone tried the frame protection by Sports Cover Bike Shield? Is it any better than the normal stick-on types like Lizard Skins or System EX?

Comments

  • Just got a chainstay protector from Ribble, looks like sticky-back carbon. Really tuff stuff, and VERY sticky and doesn`t look like it`ll peel off any time soon, `specially if you properly de-grease the chain stay first with some brake cleaner etc

Transparent fablon from B&Q - sticks well (as long as frame is clean and dry), and easily forms to shape around tubes including where they join. Not had any peel off yet, but if it does, or wears out, I've got a roll big enough to do a million patches of whatever shape or size I want for less than half the price of a pack of patches :D
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

Good man, a common sense approach.
  • Also use it on other areas of your frame to reduce cable rub on your frame.
  • I use clear waterproof duct tape for frame protector patches

I've used some of that self adhesive carbon fibre effect sheeting that you can buy from Halfords and other auto accessory shops. It's the stuff they use on dashboards and trim.
I originally purchased it as I used to mod my PC cases.
I've put it wherever cables touch the paintwork on my bike. I recall doing that the weekend I first got my bike and it's not come unstuck or worn away since. :D
