I was up there a couple of months ago, the trails are short at about 5km. uphill is steep through a farm road/track. The down is quite sweet with some good little technical features. Worth a go if you need a change or dont have far to drive. Also the farm shop and guys running thw place are really friendly, all small business stuff which is good to see.
also not far away from there are the pittmedden trails near glenfarg (south of Perth) good for some XC with a few tight wee runs,0 -
I was there back in April 09. Its quite a compact and natural feeling trail located on the side of a hill. The ground was badly water logged when i rode there, and it did not really hold up to these weather condition's due to there not being an all-weather base layer like you find on bigger Scottish trail centers. Some sections were very muddy, other were soft and being torn up easily , and i found the sections with bedrock to be very slippy where damp..
As the trail is a bit on the short side, a number of laps is possible. You can also mix it up by doing top or bottom loops.
As a whole i would rate the trail to be a red route, but certainly in the wet condition's that i experienced, i would grade a few of the features as black.0 -
Cheers for the info all. Sounds like it might be best left untill the dryer weather returns. As for Pittmedden i know it very well as it's my local ride but again it's suffering a bit from the weather so trying to avoid it and save the trails. Will continue with trips further afield for the winter0

Have you ever ridden Blairadam Forest close to the town of Kelty in Fife? Its around 25 min down the M90 motorway from Perth..

have never been to blairadam but i've heard that it is very muddy, more than devilla woods or comrie croft, what are the trails like?0

I will have to be honest, I have never ridden Blairadam Forest In fact i only heard about the place last week from a friend who has ridden there and recommends going. I will go check them out as soon as we get a spell of dry weather ( i know, that might be a while).
Where do you normally ride around the Fife area ?0 -
I've ridden there quite a bit too and indeed it is very muddy in places but there are some really good bits if you go and explore. Lots of logging at the minute and some gems are being lost, however when one door closes.....0

How would you compare Blairadam to Pittmedden as whole? Is there more man made sections in Blairadam?0

I'd say there is a fair bit more at Pittmedden if you know where to look As for the Blair i havn't been for a wee while and it can be hard to find the good stuff but it is there if yu explore. There was a good long downhill descent from the mast area but that may have been logged. No doubt there are new ones appearing already tho.0

I have done a fair bit of exploring around Pittmedden, but im sure there is alot of good stuff i have yet to find! ! In fact, i find it quite hard to join up the trails to make a good loop including all the good parts i have found !
Is there any other good spots in the fife area you can recommend ?0
