Hmmmm
Who did the original quote that you gave to the insurance ?
Whenever I have needed a quote for insurance purposes I've always given one from a bike shop and never had your problem .
That said I think it's fair to say that if a bike has been in an accident it's pretty hard to assess it's structural integrity just by sight , so if they become awkward I would play on that.A punctured bicycle
On a hillside desolate
Will nature make a man of me yet ?0 -
cant blame them. want to see what there p[aying for. fraud is big business and makes my skin crawl.0

Agreed! It's a genuine claim, I just wondered what to expect. We sent photos of the bike, a written statement from a local bike shop who surveyed it after the crash, photos of my girlfriends injuries and a police statement....I just wondered what more they could want!!?!0

might just be routine .0

Its fair enough that they want to inspect it. If they send a loss adjuster they may often be on a commission for the extent they reduce your claim, so if you have a fair claim and a good quote, stand your ground, don't negotiate down (or be intimidated by threats that they may not pay out).0

I claimed on my mortgage protection insurance when I was made redundant several years ago. After a few months, there was a knock at my girlfriend's door one day while I was round there. She came and told me that there was a 'giant' at the door who wanted to speak to me...
I thought it was a joke so I went to the door and... there was a man standing there who must have been at least 6' 10" tall. I'm over 6' 1" and my eye-level was below his shoulders! He had an extremely intimidating manner and started implying that I was working while claiming on the insurance. He quoted details of my educational history and said that I 'must have' got a job by then so I was clearly up to no good. I got pretty annoyed with him and asked how he had even found where I was. Apparently he'd knocked on every door in my street trying to find me and told my neighbours that he was 'investigating' my 'dodgy' insurance claim. One of them told him where my girlfriend lived. I told him to clear off and closed the door on him. Bloody cheek! :evil:0 -
I had my bike insured, crashed and wrote it off within 6 months of new. Insurance company just told me to take it back to dealer to confirm damage and get a quote for repair, dealer said its a write off. Sent all info off to insurance company & within 3 weeks a cheque for over 2K arrived at my house.0

Well the carbon frame snapped in half, so no i didnt keep riding it. Saying that when i went down to my LBS to buy a shiny new bike they did have the exact same bike for £600 less than what i got payed out
I did telephone insurance company to see what i should do with the written off bike, they told me to basically please myself what i do with it. So i stripped the Dura Ace groupset off it and sold that on Ebay.0 -
currently got a claim going through & I have invited them to go to my LBS where my bike is to hurry them up.........
I have got the feeling my claim is a shot in the dark anyway0
