mudguards for a giant scr1

bear with me, I know mudguard posts get a bit repetitive at this time of year, but anyway
first choice would be full sks mudguards, one LBS said they would be fine, another said they would only work if butchered. anyone used them on an SCR ?
second choice, giants own mudguards, but they seem to have a big gap in them, which seems a bit daft. any opinions ?
3rd option, those new crud things, but they seem to be getting mixed reviews
all advice appreciated, incl any other options

I've got the above on my SCR 1.0. They went on fine, but the rear snapped in 2 around the brake calliper after 18 months or so.
This was probably down to my fitting rather than a fault with the guards.
I've now ditched the forward part, and just have an 18" or so section that is just supported by v shaped brackets. Still works fine.0 -
I've had SKS mudguards on an SCR with 28mm tyres. Did the second LBS sell the Giant mudguards by any chance?More problems but still living....0

I fitted a set of SKS Chromoplastics on a SCR2 a few weeks ago. Like any mudguards a little bit of patience is required to fit them properly, but they do fit ok and that's with 25mm tyres.

actually no, i had the sks one in my hand at the till (edinburgh bikes) but he advised against them. seems a bit odd, considering that you and others reckon they are ok
will probably get a set tomorrow, in time for the weekend, which looks like it could be a bit damp
thanks for the help0 -
I've got the crud ones on my scr and fitted easy to front but needed a little patience for the rear.
no problems with the ride and up to now - no readjustment needed, would definitely recommend.0
