..I had to walk 6 miles to get home. :x

I returned to my bike after work and found someone had jammed their bike into my stand. My bike is arranged flush, and the chain fits to top tube and sheffield stand perfectly - no gap. This pillock (a woman I presume from the type/colour of bike they'd jammed in) had even managed to kick out my rear wheel somehow, so the bike was now in an odd position and the valve on the rear wheel was also at a funny angle (with flat tyre to boot). :x

I can only guess they'd stepped on it or kicked it. I couldnt even get the wheel or tyre off at the side of the road either, which made things worse. Pumping did nothing

Finally got around to it tonight (after finding a spare innertube) and realised they've also roughened up the valve socket on the open pro rim. The valve stem on the tube is essentially snapped off, held on by 1mm of rubber.

I really felt like letting their tyres down yesterday. The only thing that held me back was the fact it was a woman's bike and I didnt like the prospect of her getting into trouble becaiuse they couldnt ride.

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

meh we're in an equal opportunities age. You should have done as much damage to hers as she did to yours.

People need to have more respect for other's property.

    Was very tempted.

I sanded down the valve hole on the rim so it was smooth again, then I rubbed acrylic paint in there to smooth out anything else. Left to dry for about 20 minutes and sorted the wheel out. Seems to be holding so far.

I didnt know you could snap a stem like that tbh until they did it. Tempted to post a polite letter on the doors of the cycle lockup asking peeps to be more careful.

wrap it round the D-Lock you shackle her bike with until you're ready to release it!

    one inconvenience deserves another.

Let 20 psi out of the tyres and adjust her brakes so they drag on the rims.
  • What an inconsiderate plonker!

Did you take picture evidence of how you found your bike in the stands?

That's what I was about to suggest, and make her pay for a new innertube, but I guess I'd wimp out and leave just a note instead.

Adjust the brakes is a great idea as it is totally safe and yet really annoying.

Yeah, it's safe if they don't reliase and aren't so confident as some.

  • buy the cheapest D-lock and put in on her rear wheel and the frame.

Totally safe if it is hard work to even push the bike.

A polite note is the way to go, I'm sure that the rider didn't even know that they had done it and the fact that it is brought to their attention will more than likely leave them mortified and more thoughtful in the future, anything else will make them less likely to give a damn about others bikes.

have you read the same OP as me? forced the bike in, DF's in an odd position, kicked or stepped on the rim hard enough to do damage

How hard of thinking would they have to be not to realise what they were doing?

I just thought that the fact that they left their bike stuffed into Downfaders showed either that they,
A: wanted their bike smashed into little bits,
B: they hadn't noticed what they had done,
D: they were so big and 'ard that no one would dare mess with their kit.

You've got to be pretty sure of yourself to trash a bike and still leave yours next to it, that or extra hard of thinking?.

That could have indeed happened. :? Said bike was not there today, had a nosy around the stands (perhaps too windy for her?) It would have been nice to atleast have a note taped around my bars saying "sorry" though.

Ahh well. Notes pinned on the two doors, polite and cant be missed. Saw a girl fixing a flat today outside there and if I had the time I'd of stopped and asked if she needed help. I was late getting back into the department though. Made me wonder for a sec if someone had done the same to her, then thought how paranoid that was, LOL!
