They're looking at changing it to make the race more selective.

Sounds like they might head inland a bit for a new climb, then back, skip the Cipressa and replace it with something else.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

They say this every year and yet it almost always ends up with a large group contesting the finish. Why can't RCS accept that?

The route is selective enough to present those who want to avoid a sprint the opportunity to attack, but these riders need to understand that leaving it to the Poggio is likely to lead to failure. If you take the race by the scruff of the neck early enough you can make it selective enough to reduce the field considerably before the final few capi.

I usually find the last 20 minutes of MSR among the most exciting racing of the year. This year was different as nobody seemed to be bothered having a go.

They can't accept it because sprints are dull! Everyone knows it. You want a glorious solo victory.

But the fact that it ends in a sprint more often than not makes the occasional solo victory more glorious than ever.

pre race radios seemed better, ...3 or 4 solo wins in the 80s , 1991MSR one of the best...it's the radios that poss screw things up?

Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.

^ I forgot how nice that CSC jersey was. Miles better than Saxo Bland.
