Not such a bad thing, just means when you get on the Marin it'll feel even lighter

LOL, this is very true, going from the Marin to the Sanction is odd, there's a 15lb difference!!!!

This will sit somehwere in between, but the frame and forks on their own weigh 11lb

Here are some pics following this arvos fettling, cut/fitted forks, fitted BB/crank and grips etc, it's really starting to take shape now. Loving the way it's looking. I have a Kona branded WTB saddle on it's way.

Weighed it in a crude fashion as is, and its 23lb, so the total build should be about 27lb which isn't too bad really.....

    Comments?

  • Looking very good, kinda wish I'd built it back up again now :) Looks very similar to when I first brought it with the black forks and black chainset. Jack-sh*t grips too! looking forward to seeing it finished.
    Santa Cruz Chameleon
    Orange Alpine 160
  • Cheers Mac, yep will look good when it's finished. Have just ordered a replacement chainstay sticker (Kona Branded) that I had to design myself and have custom made... :P

    M475 hubs on Mavic rims
    X5 rear mech

looking samrt man. i like it, i like the paint work on the frame.
  • That's looking really nice, like it a lot.

Got to ask though, what's the story with having two seat post clamps?

LOL, the 'lower' one is a dog collar,, 2 recesses either side for cable routing via cable tie, keeps things nice and neat

Nope, no wheels yet, or brakes

Prob wont get built up till next year
  • very good frame- I bet it was a bargain. Have you put it oin scales? I've read somewhere back in the days that 19" is around 2.56kg w/o rp-23 Fox.
    is it scandium?
  • No, just 7-series alu. Its around 6lb give or take, should be around 28lb when built.

It's gonna be my general/commuting/muckaround rig.

That way I don't ruin/wear out the other two.....

Bought it off a forum member on here, was a bit of a bargain. The rest I have bought new but cheap
  • If you don't mind my asking, how tall are you? Just asking cause it's only a little frame.
  • 5; 11", it's a good for me. Kona are notorious for there frame sizing.

    It's a 16" frame, but.......

A 16" Kona is like a 17" Marin (I compared sizes) centre BB to Centre TT

It's not small when I am on it (put some other wheels on there to test) and the cockpit/TT length is spot on....

    18" would have been borderline
  • Oh and Gil_M (from Retrobike) custom made me a new Kona chainstay protector, as you can't purchase them anywhere and the old one has seen better days....

    Fitted:

It's hidden by my Marin frame in the bike's bedroom, erm, I mean s[are room
