Hi people,
Specifically, after the downpour at last weeks cycling session I'm looking for things that will help keep the rain out and keep Dru all dry.
I've got long cycling tights which are 'ok' and a few cycling jerseys and arm warmers, but I'm looking for new gloves, over shoes, waterproof socks?? and a jacket of some description.
Can people give we a clear idea of what I should go for and prioritise.
For instance, I've got an old rainproof pod jacket which I can use for starters, so what other bits should I get, and more importantly do you have any recommendations of actual bits I should buy and where the best deals are to get them from?
Cheers,
Dru.

You can't keep dry... without boil in the bag overheating... which makes you wet.
Windproof soft shells, with a pack a mac top in the pocket for a downpour (waterproof for a while type). I have Gore softshells and a Montaine Featherlight.
If you are riding in heavy rain whatever.... you could buy a Gore Oxygen, or a similar lightweight, but they wont breathe as well as a softshell.
As for the rest, is it for rain, or for the cold too??? There is waterproof, and winter waterproof.
For the gloves, do a search on the last 2 pages here as there is a whole thread on them, as well as some on overshoes.0 -
thanks for the post.
Main issue is water proof. I can stay warm - it's keeping dry thats the problem.0 -
like scrumple says - you won't keep dry. Just concentrate on keeping warm - which usually means buying windproof rather than waterproof.
I got completely soaked about 15 minutes into a two hour ride last sunday - I wouldn't have got any wetter if I had fallen into a river. None of my stuff was waterproof - only windproof - and I never got close to being cold....0 -
if you want to be fully waterproof as well as windproof get Paramo. It best waterproofing material, great breathability, light and better than Goretex, Endura etc. due to it's animal fur technology.

A decent baselayer will help keep you warm, wet or not.Cycling weakly0

I have a Gill Prospeed jacket with e vent fabric which is very good, about as good as breathable waterproff fabrics get,It does stop external water coming in but as breathable as it is I still sweat if really pushing it.
Many find a good softshell such as the Gore N2S range all that they need.2006 Giant XTC

2016 Pinnacle Lithium 4
2017 Canondale Supersix Evo0 -

I recommend an icebreaker t shirt, it keeps me warm for the journey into work and dries off quickly). Plus because it is wool it doesn't smell really bad after just one ride!
I recently picked up one of these:

and I have been really impressed by how windproof and waterproof it is0
