Butterfly bars + 105 STI ?

While cycling home from work today, I pondered about a possible solution to get me riding my Felt F5C again (drops giving me lumbar back muscle grief from 2008 accident)...
Could I fit my Modolo "Dumbo" butterfly bars (lots of position tweak allen bolts) onto my Felt, raising the bar height and still use my current 105 gear/brake STIs?
Alternatively, what bits and a ballpark price would I need to get this combo working? I'm guessing it would be cheapest to buy bar end shifters and a pair of mountain bike style brake levers?

you're starting to get into a lot of money changing shifters etc. how about a different stem ? some of the swivel ones can raise the bar height quite a lot. you may need new cables though. I've used butterfly bars in the past and like them to a point, but you can only put the brake levers in 1 position which can cause problems if you have to brake quickly.0

Bars are the wrong diameter to use with a road shifter - can't imagine that you'd get a good position for the levers either - the bends on the bars are all the wrong shape / place. You could try a shallow road bar like a North Road or Moustache - look on Velo Orange - Fresh Tripe are UK dealersMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Thanks for the input so far...
When the Felt had its service in March, I asked GA Cycles to be as generous as possible with the slack in the new gear, brake and outer cables (giving me some room for manouvre for a steeper angles stem).
The stupid thing is that this time last year, I had an Oval R710 adjustable stem, which did help my back out. I then found that my back strengthened and until March (when I did my longest ever ride, in a sponsered event, ~45 miles) and so I swapped back to the original stem plus sold the Oval!
Perhaps it might be best to get either a high angles fixed stem (100mm; ~30+ degrees) or even buy another Oval R710 adjustable, as it was rock solid?
Am I being thick, or would this On One stem do the trick?

Gut feeling is get another Oval but they are probably 3 X as expensive0 -
There are plenty of decent adjustable stems - both the System Ex and Ritchey ones are durable. The One One stem is only 40mm, which is very short - the bars will be very close to the axis of the steerer.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
