Bike clean

Just gave my bike a real good clean, dont think it will get used much during the winter.
Took about 3 hours and they just flew by, very therapeutic. Auto Glym resin polish is awesome.
Cleaning, chore or joy?

Daily its a squirt with a hose and a wipe but I went all out today and it was most satisfying.0 -
Oooops! Sorry readers, you must use a low pressure hose, muc off and spend 3 hours or your bearings will implode!

That's better...
TBH, I don't even use a hose, I use a watering can, it's gentler on the bikes.

i am obbsecessed with cleaning my bike. i have a tip aswell. if you sray wd40 or gt 85 onto a rag and then rub it all over the frame, the mud wont be able to stick and it will clean easier the next time. make sure you rub it in real hard though. :P0

That works really nicely on black frames. I've also used an Armour All product, that's used on plastic car trim to polish my frames with. Leaves a silicon coating, which like the WD40 and GT85 stops the crap from sticking to the frame.0 -
yeah. However do other people here use tire blacker on yellow maxxis logos. it make them come out really bright on tires. anyone else as sad as me0

I got to admit I like getting that black crud out of jocky wheels. But I am a bit weird.0

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. This is perfectly normal behaviour.
I have a nice pair of blue KMC jockey wheels on the NRS. I like them to be blue, not black or covered in mud. I take them out of the mech to clean them.0 -
have to join you there. cleaned my bike night before last and i took the chain guide off and took the crank arm off the chain ring and bash ring and then cleaned off the crud. makes me happy knowing my bike is as clean as they come.0

My mate does mine! He loves doing it that much, I just do the coveyer line thing with the bikes!
Get the rags and GT out once home and jobsagudden.0 -
Do you use a toothpick (or similar) and rotate them slowly though?!0

I find the wooden stirrers from Starbucks ideal for this operation0 -

Yes. I have a set of picks and tweezers specifically for the bikes. Also a toothbrush that's used for cleaning braces (has a very nice pointed end) and a couple of other small brushes for getting into those hard to clean places.0 -
ahh no. i have a special brush thing made by weldtite. i have been kniwn to use a toothpick though.0

Mine occaisonally gets a squirt with a hose, and if it's lucky, a bit of Muc-Off too. But that's if it's REALLY lucky...
Go on, flame away, I don't care.
Mountain bikes LOVE mud, and as such, must be kept a little muddy (except for moving parts).
