I've posted before about Barnsfield Heath in the past being the best closed circuit around.
This circiut was run by the MOD and I think the maintenance was taken over by a private contractor who upped the rates in which the TLI (organiser Glen Longland) used to pay. It was held every Thursday night in a handicap style. It was also run by the great John Marshman of Primera Sport, Bournemouth who tried his best to time everything to all finish together. The circuit had the small climb, 2 chicanes, sweeping wide roads, U-bend, narrow forest roads and many variations in directions and courses.
Since this new company has taken over there has been only a few BCF races there.
This Circuit has the potential to breed top riders and hone their race craft for the benefit of UK sports.
If anyone knows anyone in the know or any Ministers of Sport then give them a kick and tell them about this circuit.
I have known of 120 riders to turn up on one night; that is a true endorsement of this wasted resourse.
    Cheers Jerry

  • The owner is the same: Qinetic. They stopped the racing there althogether for a couple of years to use the circuit for its intended purpose of testing MOD vehicles. However in that time the financial climate changed dramatically and now there are no 'freebies': we have to pay a prohibitive full rate for an evening's racing, as well as provide toilet facilities and door security.
Despite this, the Wessex League will be running a full series of races in 2010 and with a 'back up' circuit around Woodlands near Verwood. See here for further details: https://www.entryweb.co.uk/
We cannot at the time of writing confirm which races Mr lloyd will be riding in.
