Savernake forest - any good routes??
Hello all,
went to Savernake on Sunday, and had a really good, muddy rice.
However didn't find that much in the way of proper singletrack.
Yet to upload the route from my gfarmin, but just wondered if there was loads of bits I missed, or certain areas that were singletrack rich.
We parked up about halfway down the road that goes through, and looking at the route on the garmin we pretty much went out in all 4 directions, and ended up coming back to the car, and then heading off in another direction again.
Anyone got any routes plotted online??
Cheers

I went along and ahve the same probs (back in the summer). did find a random route along forestry tracks that were now overgrown.
no singletrack (officially) that i know of... all found by chance.www.settingascene.com - MTBing in Wilts and the southwest, join up for info and ride details.0 -
Can't help but agree......we didn't find any trails that had any obvious pre-determined routes, although there are clearly a few fire roads....but the muddy dog walker paths were hysterical and we spent most of our time there lying on our sides in the mud laughing at each others misfortunes.
Good memories of self and wifey battling mother nature, getting plastered in mud and covering virtually no ground at all. Great Day!
I wouldn't go back unless someone can oblige with a route of some description. having said that...It would be good for a walk or two, before that Sunday Roast.

I don't think that there is much in Savernake at all. Go further South to Collingbourne Woods near Tidworth though, and it's a different kettle of fish. Lots of great singletrack there, it does suffer in the Winter though.0

We live near Newbury, so have been round Greenham Common, and over to Bracknell forest, so just looking for some new areas to venture really.

It may be worth your while having a dig around for trails near Pangbourne too.
I used to live in Hermitage and there is some ok riding around that area up towards Bucklebury(sp?).0 -
