right,

just before i take the plunge could someome clarify this.....

there is no way i can get a boardman bike on cyclescheme?

i really want a boardman, but as cyclescheme only use lbs's and not halfords there is no way i can get a boardman?

Comments

  • Hmm, not sure but seeing as the Boardmans are exclusive to Halfords then probably not.

Unless of course LBS will accept the Halfords voucher.
  • No help with your op but here is an idea.

If you get a brand new bike from the Lbs at a greatly reduced price thro the cycle scheme try to sell it on at near to its retail price then use the profit/cash to buy the boardman you want.

I know that sounds simplistic and there is the legal "your only leasing the bike "factor until its paid off but Im sure if you left the company you would pay the scheme off in full anyway, its just an idea. Maybe someone who reads this has already done just that?

Just make sure its a bike you would still want to keep just in case it doesnt sell.

To add to your woes, Iv had a Boardman hybrid thro a C2W scheme for 2 years and not had a single bit of trouble from it. Its great. Hope it all works out
If i aint riding it, then im thinking about riding it.

Are you a good customer of your LBS? If you are you could do what halfords do if they can't get the bike you want from their suppliers and that's take your voucher, put it through their till and go next door to the very friendly LBS that has ordered it in for me ( I mean you ) and give them the cash. Got to be worth a try? If it's good enough one way? I'm sure they must have got it trade so it's win win.

You can get a Boardman on C2W IF you organiser uses Halfords, in theory you can get the bike anywhere, but it all depends on which scheme your company is using (or its own organisation).

I tried to get mine via C2W but the nominated supplier (Wheelies) had a policy of only dealing with manufacturers - as Boardman has an exclusive deal with Halfords for distribution, they could not deal with the manufacturer. Stupid rule but that's life...

Arm twisting and pleading would not budge them so had to pay for it myself in the end :(

  • yeah ive had the same luck as steveo. ive tried to get the bike shop to get it as well but to no avail!

if anyones out there maybe in the north east, who has a halfords voucher and wants a LBS one I may do a deal if its possible?!

You could get your LBS to order this frame from Italian Solutions:

    and build you something nice.

Might bust the £1000 a tad tho'

And it is a Time Trial frame too.

Why the bother though? There are plenty of similar quality bikes in the same price bracket.

Because they look really good - Boardman got the asthetics spot on.

I wanted one, but was also tied to wheelies via my employer.

For all the bitchin' I do on here about Halfords, I guess that having a Halfords C2W scheme really is good when it comes to Boardman bikes.

My Boardman Team Carbon (pictured in sig), is a great bike. Fast agile, very upgradeable - feels more expensive than it actually is (my previous decent bike was a Cervelo P3 in TT configuration with a 57 chain ring).

Minor upgrades to lightweight Deda bars, stem and carbon seatpost and my own old Specialized saddle.

Works a treat and I am not snobby enough to give a sh*t what any Bianchi or whatever riders think....As generally, I do more mileage than most anyway!
