Hiya, i am co-organiser of this sportive ride and am in the process of raising awareness about it.

http://www.cyclosport.org/events2010.aspx then click May.

Half way down the page and click for more info/route details.

Still a work in progress and this will be our first year so feedback welcome both beforehand and afterwards.

One thing I would say is that these are our regular routes/climbs and some of the scenery is worth the trip alone.

See you there guys,

Cheers Tony

Cost is £24 per rider, similarly priced to other events locally.

As for showers, we will talk to the school and see how it goes. I agree it's a good idea and welcome after a long ride so fingers crossed.

Hiya, good point and we are fully aware of it. We have arranged with them that our start time and theirs are different enough that most of our riders will be through the gorge and long gone before they kick off.

There is also a running event that may slightly intertwine with our riders hence the mention on our website.

Their sportive itself is a shorter run just encompassing dropping down and climbing back to the top of the Mendips. Without the coastal section, and the long flat sec tion around Wookey/Wedmore i think they only ride possibly 50(?) miles or so.

In fact we have a verbal agreement that our feed stations wont turn away their riders and vice versa. As i see it more riders/feed stations/ signage should mean a safer and more comfortable ride.

Thanks for the info, it is good that people are becoming aware we exist :)
  • Your 100 mile map doesn't open properly from your website-any chance of fixing it.

Is the Cheddar challenge an MTB event? The Cheddar sportive takes place in September.

Bike Route Toaster is running slowly the last week or so :? Not sure why exactly.
We will make available a garmin/gps download once the event draws nearer.

I think there are two events then, I know the organiser of Cheddar cyclosportive, and also see:

    it's 19th September next year.

Never knew the Mendips were so popular, all fantastic if you are based here!
