Can you upload tracks/routes onto a bog standard Garmin Etrex? I'm not fussed about having one with mapping on, i just want to download routes, put them on my gps and follow the route.

u can up load tracks n routes to the Garmin etrex but u will need digital mapping, ie Memory map or the new Quo digital mapping software. av used both but now i only use Quo. everything with Quo is easier and quicker and its less than 1/2 the cost of memory map0

I don't understand why i'll need the mapping though. Surely i just upload the track and follow the route? If the route knows where it is on the ground why would i also need mapping? Besides, i don't think you can display mapping on a basic gps..0
