Is anyone up for a ride in the Surrey area? I'm not all that interested in racing (Well, not yet anyway, I'd get annihilated) but I'm not sure if there's a group on here that just does trips out?

Looking to up my distance levels and keep biking over winter :D

You could see if there's any cycling clubs that are local - most have a "social" ride (rather than race-training ride) that you could join with?

Whereabouts in Surrey are you, Chronyx?

I'm in Sussex, but quite often jump in the car / on the train to ride in the Surrey Hills.

Depending on where you live, keep an eye on these http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12661852&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 RPCC (Richmond Park Cycling Club) threads. You could also PM the 'club captain' Rich-Ti who'll make you welcome.

Hi BTB, I'm near Chertsey off J11 of the M25!

Richmond Park isn't that far from me, about 13 miles.

Reading the first page of the RPCC CCC thread, I expect those guys are a lot fitter than me, distance I think I could manage but they'd be off in the distance somewhere

Contact Rich-ti and go on an easier RPCC ride. They'll tell you when they're going to up the pace. They're a friendly bunch and will wait for you. You could always meet them somewhere and do what you can.

    +2 the RPCC.

I'm hoping to be up in the Surrey area on Saturday. My 1st proper ride in 8 weeks  Damn illness has put me well behind.

Getting the train from Waterloo to Clandon Station then planning a nice 120km ride around the hills then back to home via RP 8)

Please god let the wind be a tail wind
  • Sorry to hear you haven't been well Mr.NW, that explains why you haven't been back out with The GregariosSuperclub Ciclista after your magnificent debut ride some weeks ago!

The CCC ride is the big one that they do every few months.

The Normal RPCC ride is around 100-180km depending on the route they take. Via Crocknorth to Box Hill is the shorter route. If they go via Hound House, Peaslake, Leith Hill then this does add the extra KM and gradient?

I only did the long route once and bonked, died, bonked and hit the wall too many times to count

Blimey  Sounds like a gorgeous route, I'd want to do it by myself first though!
