front mech size

I'm having a bit of a nightmare trying to replace my tiagra front mech. My seat tube has a diameter of 31.8mm and I'm looking for an ultegra (6500, double 9 speed) mech. However I only seem to find 28.6mm ones everywhere. I actually found one on the bay last month, but Royal mail lost it during the striking.
I guess my question is; are there any adaptors or shims or owt available that would allow me to use a 28.6 mech?
Any advice would be awesome. thanks.

from what I have found, there isn't a 105 9 speed dbl version, I don't want to replace ith with a tiagra one, as I may as well upgrade seeing as I'm changing it. so Ultegra is my only option.0

Try the first one. It will be 31.8 with an adapter sleeve for 28.6.
Or get one of these and a braze on mech.

i'd have thought you would need the 35mm band on model - if your seatpost is 31.8 then the seat-tube will be wider still
just get any "braze-on" front mech you want and an adapter surely?0 -
so will the 10 speed one take a 9 speed chain then?
sorry for all the questions folks!!0 -
Yes but you may get a little more chain rub. The trim should sort that out OK. If you really want 9sp then try this one or Tiagra. (sp are on the way out in the better ranges so will get harder to find.
