Genaerally for construction staff working on Bank holidays will command an extra hourly permium over your basic.

For Christmas, shift bonuses often apply in addition to a premium rate. This will generally apply on only Christmas Day, as Christmas eve is just another day and boxing day can sometimes be taken as just a normal bank holiday.

You're not thinking of going "down the tubes" are you?

depends - shift workers work them just like normal days - and that'll be all station and train staff.

Anyone else usually gets offered some sort of incentive to work those days if needed. I only took the offer once and that was stewarding at New Labour's Dome Party in 1999/2000 - and the money that year was just too good to turn down. Every other year - what's on offer doesn't make it worth doing - I'd rather be at home.
