Well being a Scotsman i am hardly in a position to comment as we are extremely guff but you are right they are always average on the big stage. One World Cup and even that was in their backyard and with some dodgy refereeing their record for a country their size is very poor compared to Germany,Italy and France even Czech republic have a better record Expect England to get horsed out at 1/4 finals stage after flattering to decieve.Gasping - but somehow still alive !0 -

OK, see what you mean now.
How exactly would you define a sport in the true sense of the word? Do you mean that it should be accessible to all? That you need a certain level of fitness? That it should have a very large base of competitors?0 -

OK, 3-2 to England then.
You're probably right in saying that England will get knocked out in the QFs, but I'd be interested to know how you work out that the Czech Republic are more successful than England. The Czechs have won one major tournament, the European Championship in 1976, but that was part of a Czechoslovakia team which was mainly comprised of Slovaks.0 -

2-2 as the West Germans had stopped and let Hurst go through on goal as they thought it was all over
Ok if we take the Czechs as being both Czech and Slovaks they have a WC final in 1934 a WC final in 62 a Euro Nations title in 76 a final in Euro 96 id say that easily equates to a dodgy World Cup winGasping - but somehow still alive !0 -

I also despise that f**king England band.
I'll still be cheering them on next year in SA though.
Agreed, John. Although I'm a Scot, I don't hate the English, and would watch and support their rugby teams, (both codes) if they weren't playing Scotland, and actually enjoy hearing about the shenanigans of the cricket side.
Some good young players coming through the ranks now, though.....0 -

And I'm one of the rare breed of Englishmen who supports the other home nations. It would be fantastic to one day see all 5 of the British Isles teams at the World Cup.0 -
Everyone can access sailing if they want to. I'm sure if you wanted to sail badly enough, you would make it happen now thats a sport I want to see. Rod stewart sang about it, Ellen McArthur is tiny and does it, just sail, get a dinghy, skiff, canoe and do it. sailing is sailing, theres no plain sailing, no more wailing for sailing only cheering and waving. :?0
