I'm thinking about getting a pair of these (661 Filter SPD) but i'm unsure what the SPD means. I'v seen other things on the forum about them but all that has done is confuse me more. Any help

Hi
Umm SPD means "shimano pedalling dynamics", but that doesnt tell you much!
Basically its being clipped to your pedals, pedals like:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=3759.
The best site to explain these, and why you'd get them is:
http://www.thebikeshack.com/t-Pedals.aspx
You unclip by twisting your ankle out from the bike.
Ive got them: they take some getting used to, but theyre very good once youre used to them.I know not where I am going, my future will decide. But it's not the destination, it's the glory of the ride.

And even more details...
I forgot to say that theres a metal bit that you get when you buy the pedal, that screw into the sole of your shoe. these are called "cleats".
You can just wear the shoes with "flat" pedals, and ignore the SPD bit!
Have fun :PI know not where I am going, my future will decide. But it's not the destination, it's the glory of the ride.

So there the best of both worlds then. I dont like the idea of being clipped to the bike mind0

Fair enough, it can be daunting.
Yeah, just ignore the SPD bit, use them as normal shoes.I know not where I am going, my future will decide. But it's not the destination, it's the glory of the ride.
