£999.99 for a far east alloy frame with Sora
CAAD9 with Tiagra for the same price would provide a better frame and a better groupset

2009 models available for £999.99 with 105 too.

+1
There was a 2nd hand CAAD9 in the LBS recently with Campagnolo Super Record and Bora Wheels for £1400. Would have bought it if I had the cash. Apparently, the original owner was going to get a carbon frame for all that bling, but thought the CAAD9 frame was better...0 -
Was it a silver CAAD9 frame? They're the bestest.0

Is that supposed to be a bad thing ? I was under the impression that most of the titanium/carbon we use is sourced from the far east :? I reckon even Ribble buy far east alloy
Totally agree about the Sora though. It's totally out of odds with a £1000 bike in this day and age.
I'd say the Pinarello knocks the rest of them into the weeds in terms of style and looks tho.0 -

There's nothing wrong with Far East materials, but the Pinarello is overpriced, but come on an alloy from with Sora for £999.99? They use the Far East because it's cheap, but don't pass those savings on, and that's my issue with the Alloy Pinarellos. I know they don't have to pass the savings on, and some people will buy them anyway, but they are really a £600 bike, and £400 for Pinarello decals.
I bet the frame is good, but I bet it's no better than a similarly specced Allez/Secteur/Bianchi/Felt/etc either.
From next year CAAD9s are going to be made in the Far East, and they'll probably be made even better then.0 -
Back to the drawing board then :?
Suggestions for £1000 (thats the budget for the bike not the reward for suggestions!!)"BEER" Proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy0 -

Thanks for clearing that up It did seem you were knocking the sourcing of frame/material from the far east.
Well if I'm honest I think most Pinarello's are overpriced hence I didn't really look twice at them. Sora for £1000 is shocking but it greatly depends on the level of development that's gone into the frame.
It's like this across the board though. I'm not 100% that the Cervelo S1 frameset is aeons better but retails at £1000. Add in some Sora etc. and you'll come out at more than the Pinarello so I don't know really.
Hope you're right about the Cannondale's. They seem to be a great brand but hope the shareholders are not going to be absorbing the savings made by importing their frames.0 -

I reckon the Price of the CAAD9s won't change all that much, but the quality is probably going to go up.0 -
I'm still umming and aahing over selling my Look frame and getting a CAAD90
