Depends how well it was set up! Where from, and how did you get it?

On both of mine, one from shop and one out of the box, it was a question (even with jack skills) of checking it over. Check everything is tight, and screwed together (even if it looks ok) before taking it out for a spin.

I remember on my binachi, the shop didn't tighten everything on the bike!

I think it's a good idea to check over after a couple of rides just to make sure nothing has worked it's sef loose.

  • Probably a good idea to check if the quick release skewers for the wheels are done up, that the brakes work, handlebars are tight, etc. Running through the gears (on a stand if you have one) is a good idea - I threw a chain off riding a bike home from the shop because the front changer hadn't been adjusted properly and I shifted the chain clean off the front ring. Make sure to take some allen keys with you on your first ride or 2 so you can tighten down anything that shakes loose.
  • Thanks to the 2 members who thought my question was relevant.

Make your first few road tests circular routes, not straying too far from home, until you are confident of the set-up. :D

  • Thanks for the advice!

If you don't know/don't trust who set the bike up, I'd check everything anyway. It's your teeth/face/limbs.

    check everything.

I'm happy to give it a test for a year or so if you want, just to see everything's set up right?
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos
  • Nice reply!
