my Spesh Roubaix Comp wheels say 700/23/25 on them.
i want to buy some winter tyres - maybe Michelin Krylions.

do I buy 23 or 25mm or would both fit? Presumably 25mm offer more grip but are less pacey?

thanks

I have spez Roubiax pro and fitted 25's to it and it feels like it has better grip. I only ride for fitness and hav'nt noticed any loss of performance.

Only probl;em is you won't get guards on!

I do about 17.6 mph over 30 miles. I know thats not fast but its about the same as the mich ones I had on before

    Flyer...does the '23/25' mean i can fit 23,24 or 25mm tyres then?

..that 17.6mph sounds about my pace when trying quite hard...but i have nt got fit yet...and its hilly round here. I dont ride for speed either so will prob get 25mm.thanks
  • Just remember that 25mm Krylion are really fat. I measured mine at 27mm. Obviously that's not necessarily an issue for you.

..mmm thanks Edindevon...I dont want to order on line and then they dont fit....
  • I think he means they will protrude out from the rim of your wheel slightly, giving more surface area to contact the road...

my 23's at 120 psi are the same width as my rims. So stands to reason the 25's will have a bit more angle on the side walls to give more base area.

Apart from that little sniblet of webby goodness, I went from massive MTB tires to 23's so cant comment on the 25! sorry!

Previous threads have revealed that while the 23mm Krylions are actually quite slim and measure in at 22mm, the 25mm Krylions are very much the opposite. If clearance is any sort of an issue, the 25mm Krylions could cause problems.

Do you mean that the tyres have 23/25 mm written on them? I have some Roubaix tyres which have this on the side. In Specialized's jargon this means that they are a 25mm tyre (casing volume), with 23 mm tread, whatever that means. Either way, I highly recommend 25mm tyres - they're more comfortable, grip better, and are no slower rolling.

I have the roubaix and use 25mm better for the roads round here.
Currently I have been mostly riding a Specialized Roubaix Comp

mmmm.....maybe I made a mistake.....not too expensive at 20quid each so will fit them and see how it goes.......
