Do you have goals on your commute? I do
This week I've been working on
a. Pedaling style. I am trying to develop my 'piston' style, cycling from the hip and in a controlled yet fast and powerfull manner.
b. Speed - my bike weighs about 23kg and gives me assistance to 13mph..I'm currently trying to increase my speed to over 17mph
c. Hills- to not dip below 14mph when cycling up a moderate hill
d.Cadence - to increase my cadence by spinning at my top limit at least twice along my commute.

I have one goal in the morning and then a different one in the evening.
Morning goal:
Try to get to work without some muppet killing me
Evening goal:
Try to get home without some muppet killing me0 -
To exceed 30mph on every ride.
To hit the top 10 in the Stats. <Fail>0 -
1. Improve my pedalling style, concentrating on using my upstroke as well as the down stroke.
2. Do the full 50 mile round trip five days a week before Xmas.
3. As above, but on my singlespeed conversion (still currently in bits).Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX
Race - Fuji Norcom Straight
Sun - Cervelo R3
Winter / Commute - Dolan ADX0 -
Recorded times initially, now looking to avoid bottom gear on the hills.I ache, therefore I am.0

Taking at least 10 scalps each way and stay alive.
To smile at least once at a good overtake
To laugh at least once at some eejit
To get a perfect zoom start where I clip in instantly on free foot and up to 20+ within seconds to take all the pack at the lights
Something I've still failed at is to meet a fellow scr'r either way.Le Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

Used to see how many trips I could manage without putting a foot down. Each commute is just over 8 miles through west London. Gave it up as a bad idea after taking stupid risks to beat lights, trackstanding for longer than my (meagre) skills allow and balancing against road furniture that was just a little bit too far out of reach.
Agree with Graeme_S that at this time of year simply arriving unscathed is goal enough.0 -
My goals are to consistently go under 1hr 10 mins for the commute, and maybe under 1hr at least twice a week. I also want to get on the club training night twice a week, which makes for a 60 mile commute :shock:pain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................
Revised FCN - 20 -

Get there in one piece, and try not to get passed and dropped by anyone.0 -
To do the return trip in under 1hr.
To hit 3k miles by Dec 31st, still got 600 plus to do.
To let it go when some one gets to close (I hope karma will get them back)0 -
