Hi every one. Thinking of doing the coast to coast next may with my wife and was wondering, which was the best guide book to buy and to recommend. Looking to do it in 3 days so need to stay in hotels or b and b's for my wifes sake.
Cheers all

    i bought this last jan..

    http://www.sustransshop.co.uk/products/ ... route-pack

with the intention of a 5/6 day excursion in the summer. However had to put in hold as i road the LEL (London-Edinburgh-London) instead.

Anyway its pretty comprehensive and covers all you need to know including several routes.

This and a decent gps is all you'll need.
  • Hi there, you don't need a guide just get the map, it's well signposted apart from in Penrith. We did it in 2 1/2 days. staying at Keswick, Nenthead. Just browse the web & get your accom. Keswick has loads of choices, Nenthead & Allenheads do not have as much accommodation. The C2C website can help out there.

Split into roughly, 35 miles, 50ish miles, 50ish miles. The ride out of Nenthead is hard but a lot of people stop at Allenheads. This makes the 3rd day easy.

We didn't need our GPS although we used it to record the ride data. Just be mindful that the route used changes numbers....that's where we went wrong in Penrith.
I'm over 6' and have quite a large head.
