Seatpost sizing question

I have just spotted a crack at the top of my alloy seatpost so I think it's replacement time. I've measured the pin a few times and it keeps coming back as 86mm around, which works out as 27.37 across. It's a Trek frame with the stock Bontrager pin. Am I just measuring wrong? If I buy a 27.2 will it fit?

Thanks!

    Almost certainly a 27.2 - a 27.4 isn't a common size
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

most seat posts have the size stamped on them near the min insert marker.
