Seatpost sizing question

I have just spotted a crack at the top of my alloy seatpost so I think it's replacement time. I've measured the pin a few times and it keeps coming back as 86mm around, which works out as 27.37 across. It's a Trek frame with the stock Bontrager pin. Am I just measuring wrong? If I buy a 27.2 will it fit?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Almost certainly a 27.2 - a 27.4 isn't a common sizeMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

most seat posts have the size stamped on them near the min insert marker."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
