Recently noticed the anodizing on my Recon's Left Stanchion is heavily scuffed along with some gouging. Has anyone had this successfuly remedied through re-anodizing via a metal-platers, or is a new fork the only practical solution (i'd rather not, at the mo...) as the RockShox spares listing i've been looking at doesn't seem to show anything other than internals.

    it depends.

have a look in the FAQs for a fix for scratches or it is a new upper assy or second hand upper assy.

Talk to TFTuned for replacements uppers, from what you've described I would suggest your stanchions are beyond repair. I wouldn't have thought re-anodising would be a practical option.

Have you checked the Fishers site for spare part listings ?

Have a look here. You can't usually buy direct from Fishers but your local Rockshox dealer
should be able to order some for you (or contact TFTuned).

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
  • Is anodising possible on stanchions ? That would look awesome !

    most stanchions are already anodized.

    or treated similarly.

but if the legs are to far gone there is nothing to do.

Your fork will require a new CSU (Crown/steerer/uppers). This is, unfortunately, very expensive. You may be better off selling the fork for spares

The gold coloured coating on stanchions is usually titanium nitride, as it is very hard wearing and has a low coefficient of friction.
