Brain Pete Doherty with your guitar and I'll love you forever.

Good luck though, sounds like a great break for you.
  • Very best of luck, 211dave112,

Hope you manage to get a fair few of your local fans to the gig - that should help you feel at home.

I played Glastonbury with Billy Bragg once (just the once!) and I still remember the feeling of coming off stage and seeing Ray Davies going on after us. Believe me, it stays in the memory! :D

EDIT - got the numbers in your sig the wrong way round. Just don't do as I just did...

good luck! at least playing with baby shambles means that no matter what, you wont be the worst band there!

    :P  :D

  • just got home, went so well. great crowd and babyshambles were great. got to go up to the hotel rooms to meet them all after and had a chat/photo's. and didn't get star struck! for once!

thanks for the kind comments! and i play bass by the way, my first gig with my new band and after only 4 practices so this was a baptism of fire!!
  • The "ahem" pinnacle of my rock career was when my old band played on the same bill as Keane on a wet wednesday night at the Dublin Castle in Camden about eight years ago. (I'm a bass player too).
Let's close our eyes and see what happens
  • Wow, I'm a bassyclist as well! (Acoustic variety). I wonder how many of us there are on here. You wait ages for a bass and then three of them turn up all at once...

Good to hear you had a great night 211dave112 - that sounds like pretty good going after only 4 rehearsals. Good test of the nerves!

....yeah, bassists usually come-in late.

    ex-drummer myself.
...most memorable gig was supporting Anti-Pasti in Manchester during the 80's ...in front of about 2000 skinhead punks  ...needless to say the transit van broke down in the middle of Moss Side on the way back home.

My last groop played with British Sea Power a few times.Their hardcore fans are a partisan lot. If Hendrix came back from the dead just to support BSP them lot would still act with contrived uninterest with glum as f@ck faces. You do well to win over the main acts fans. If you did Dave, then hats off to ya!

Best gig we played was in Reykjavic, half way through the set a girl jumped on stage dressed as a cat & started dancing. Tail, whiskers..the lot. Mighty, mighty fit & had all the moves. Surreal that night was. Top place.

Drummers who make jokes about rhythm section musicians get sent to play on the naughty step around here

+1 forthe bassists union here. Strictly amateur.

Don't know a lot of bassist jokes but here's my favourite:

    Q. What's the definition of a bass player?

    A. Cross between a drummer and a musician.
  • So where are all the guitarists? Normally they're all over the shop.

How many bass players does it take to change a lightbulb?

    One...Five....One....Five...One....Five....
  • wow im a bass player as well what type of bass do you play, only joking thats as dull as taking about bikes.
