"You multitool" sounds like a fantastic insult.
I use a Toppeak tool which is very good. Crank Bros tools are also highky rated.0 -
I've got a crank bros one the one that comes in the flask it's great the spoke tool is nearly as good to use as a sperate one too.

Multi-tools aren't great for maintenance, they're fine if you're on the road. But for home you want something a little more sturdy. Gorilla grip hex keys are great for home use but don't have anything else on them, but fantastic for home maintenance.
I have a topeak 19+ for on the road, then separate tools for home. Chain tool, spoke keys, gorilla grips (hex and torx) plus a few other things like a socket set and torque wrench.0 -
I think mine's a Crank Bros one. Little silver tin with a plastic lid? Only had to use a couple of allen keys, but it seems pretty solid.
Not sure about the chain tool though. I bent my proper one trying to undo a 10 sp Shimano chain. Now has a KMC link in it, but if it broke on a ride I think I'd be phoning the cavalry.0 -
thanks for all the help. the topeak hexus looks a good value tool for a road side maint on a road bike without paying for all the extra gizmos you may 1 day need for mountain bike maint0

I think you mean the Alien II but that is also a monster of a thing.0 -
Yep I have the Alien II and it is heavy and bulky although a nice bit of kit. I bought a Topeak Mini 18 as it was 1/2 the size and weight and has everything on it I need for my road bike.
For Familly pootles I take the AlienII so I can pretty much have something to fit the myriad of fittings on all the bikesThe universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. ...Stapp’s Ironical Paradox Law
