    I've been riding bikes since I was a kid, and "seriously" for perhaps 15 years now. My maintanence regime is a squirt of wd40 or gt85 (or 3-in-1 in The Old Days) on the chain and then wipe the bike with a rag soaked in wd40 or gt85. When the bike is really stinking it gets a spray down with a jetwash.

    Do you know how many bikes I've ruined this way? How many fork seals I have wrecked, or chains I have killed?

    Zero. None.

    yeah i spray gt85 on a rag and clean and i dribble some 3 in 1 round the seals but i still sont like wd40 on chains.
