There's loads of big car parks at Rivi. As for the routes, get a map and follow the bridleways.
Bear in mind that Rivington is a public park. Therefore it will be full of horses, ditherers, walkers, OAPs, kids, dickheads and other assorted wildlife.0 -

Dave thx for reply m8,reason for asking is that ive been doing alot of riding on the road and want to start getting some xc done, and just want some local-ish routes to begin...
From the tone of your reply i take it mtb are not really that welcome at rivi sounds like you have had a 1 or 2 run-ins with people up there :shock:0 -
ricardo thx alot just wot im after, will give it a good looking at....

Scazzer have you got a Gps or memory map type map software I can send you a bunch of nice routes around Rivington with good places to park and coffee and cake spots marked.
Rivi does get chocker especially on a nice weekend if you stay in the woods round the lakes but get there before 9am on the weekend and you should find a space no problem most people turn up around 12. Hundreds of people go MTBing up there every weekend and I have never had any problem with walkers or horse riders just be nice and say good morning as you approach and they will be fine. If you can get up there midweek you should find the place pretty empty at the moment.
When were you thinking of going I might be up there this weekend could show you around (slowly I am not very fit at the moment)Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0 -
Just remembered you can buy a set of laminated waterproof cycling maps from the tourist info at The Great House Barn on Rivington lane tel 01204691549 costs about £2Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

Send Topsey Turvey a pm, he's a regular round Rivi. He'll probably even offer to guide you round if you ask him nicely!0

I've no problem with Rivington and I've never had any run-ins with anyone. I just don't think that it's worth the effort, and given the fact that at weekend it's usually full to saturation point, the potential for conflict is enormous. There are better places, sadly not within easy reach of Ormskirk.
Also, as a gentle pointer, don't use text-speak in your posts - you're liable to get agood deal of grief for doing so.0 -
stubs ive got an xda that i could put them on(i think).....im thinking of getting out tommorrow hopefully as im back in work over the weekend but will try and arrange a day soon that would be great...
Dave thanks for little gentle pointer will keep text full from now on0 -
